Margate (band)
Margate was an American rock band formed in Huntington Beach, California, in the late 1990s. The band is primarily known for its melodic, guitar-driven sound, often categorized as pop punk or alternative rock, with influences ranging from Weezer to Blink-182.
Margate released several EPs and albums, gaining a following through touring and appearances on various music compilations. Their notable releases include the album Talk Is Cheap (2003) and the EP Standing Still (2000). The band's music often features themes of teenage angst, relationships, and suburban life, common in the pop punk genre.
The lineup consisted primarily of Alex Gomez (vocals/guitar), Jeremy Lewis (guitar), and various members on bass and drums throughout their history. While never achieving mainstream success, Margate maintained a dedicated fanbase within the Southern California music scene and the broader pop punk community. The band has been largely inactive since the mid-2000s, with members pursuing other musical projects.
