Gordon Banks (American football)
Gordon Banks (born July 18, 1955) is a former American football cornerback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Seattle Seahawks.
Banks played college football at Missouri Southern State University. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the sixth round of the 1978 NFL Draft.
During his NFL career, Banks was known for his solid coverage skills and ball-hawking abilities. He played for the Buccaneers from 1978 to 1984, and then for the Seahawks in 1985. He was a key contributor to the Buccaneers' defense during their early years as an expansion team. Banks recorded a significant number of interceptions during his time in the NFL, contributing to his teams' success.
After retiring from the NFL, Banks pursued other ventures.
