Paul Raymond (musician)

Paul Raymond (November 16, 1945 – April 13, 2019) was a British keyboardist and guitarist, best known for his long tenure with the hard rock/heavy metal band UFO.

Raymond's career began in the 1960s, playing in various bands including Plastic Penny, Chicken Shack, and Savoy Brown. He first joined UFO in 1976, replacing Danny Peyronel, and contributing to several of their most successful albums, including Lights Out, Obsession, No Place to Run, and Mechanix. His keyboard work and occasional guitar playing added a layer of sophistication and depth to UFO's sound.

He left UFO in 1981 and rejoined briefly in the mid-1980s. During his time away from UFO, Raymond played with Michael Schenker Group (MSG) and recorded several solo albums, including Minds Eye (1979) and Raw Material (1983).

Raymond rejoined UFO again in 2003 and remained a member until his death in 2019. He was a key part of their touring lineup and contributed to their later albums. He died of a heart attack shortly after the band announced their farewell tour. His death was a significant loss to the rock community.
