Ian McKay (judge)

Ian McKay is a Canadian judge who served on the Court of Appeal for British Columbia. He was appointed to that position in 2004 and retired in 2018. Prior to his appointment to the Court of Appeal, he served as a judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia (formerly known as the British Columbia Supreme Court) beginning in 1994.

McKay received his law degree from the University of British Columbia. Before entering the judiciary, he practiced law privately, specializing in civil litigation. During his time on the bench, he presided over a variety of cases, including those involving commercial law, constitutional law, and criminal law. He has also written extensively on legal topics.
