Duncan Shaw (minister, born 1727)
Duncan Shaw (1727-1795) was a Scottish minister of the Church of Scotland. He was born in Rothiemurchus, Inverness-shire.
Shaw received his education at King's College, Aberdeen, graduating in 1748. He was licensed to preach by the Presbytery of Abernethy in 1751 and ordained minister of the parish of Ardclach in 1754. He remained minister of Ardclach for the rest of his life.
Shaw was a respected and influential figure in the Highlands. He was known for his piety, learning, and dedication to his parishioners. He served as Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1791.
He died in Ardclach on 20th August 1795. He was married to Margaret Grant, and they had several children, including John Shaw, who also became a minister.
