Gene Brown (politician)
Gene Brown (born July 1, 1926, died October 12, 1996) was an American politician from Tennessee. He served as a U.S. Representative for Tennessee's 3rd congressional district from 1981 to 1989.
Brown was born in Vonore, Tennessee. He attended Hiwassee College and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Prior to his congressional service, he served in the Tennessee House of Representatives from 1967 to 1969 and the Tennessee State Senate from 1969 to 1981.
As a Congressman, Brown was a Democrat. He served on the House Armed Services Committee and the Science and Technology Committee. He did not seek re-election in 1988.
After leaving Congress, Brown returned to Tennessee. He died in Madisonville, Tennessee, in 1996.
