Gizhiga (river)

The Gizhiga River is a river located in the Magadan Oblast of Russia. It flows into the Gizhiga Bay of the Sea of Okhotsk.

The river is approximately 221 kilometers (137 miles) long. Its drainage basin covers an area of 11,900 square kilometers (4,600 sq mi). The Gizhiga River is primarily fed by snowmelt and rainfall.

The area surrounding the Gizhiga River is sparsely populated and characterized by tundra and taiga landscapes. The river is used for fishing, primarily salmon. The settlement of Gizhiga is located near the mouth of the river.
