Fred Boyd (baseball)
Frederick Lee Boyd (born April 6, 1950) is a former professional baseball player. A pitcher, he played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Texas Rangers in 1973 and 1974.
Boyd was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2nd round of the 1968 MLB January Draft-Secondary Phase from Centennial High School in Compton, California. He was then drafted by the Washington Senators in the 1969 Rule 5 draft. The Senators moved to Texas and became the Rangers before Boyd made his major league debut.
In his brief MLB career, Boyd appeared in 25 games, all as a relief pitcher. He compiled a record of 0-2 with a 5.26 earned run average (ERA). He struck out 19 batters in 37.2 innings pitched.
