Frostisen
Frostisen is a glacier located in Nordland county, Norway. It is situated in the municipalities of Meløy and Rana. Frostisen is notable as being one of the largest glaciers in Northern Norway and is a part of the Saltfjellet-Svartisen National Park. The glacier contributes to the water supply of several rivers and lakes in the region and is a popular destination for glacier hiking and other outdoor activities, although these activities require experienced guides due to the inherent dangers of glacial terrain. The glacier's name, "Frostisen", translates roughly to "Frozen Ice" or "Frosty Ice." It experiences variations in size and mass balance due to changing climate conditions. Monitoring of Frostisen's size and ice thickness is conducted to assess the impact of climate change on the glacier and surrounding environment.
