George Klein (inventor)

George Klein (1904-1992) was a prolific Polish-Canadian inventor, engineer, and humanitarian. He is widely regarded as one of Canada's most innovative minds, contributing significantly to various fields, particularly those related to engineering and assistive technologies for people with disabilities.

Klein is best known for his invention of the Weelchair, with a miniature motor in 1950's. This invention revolutionized mobility for individuals with disabilities.

Beyond the wheelchair, Klein made significant contributions to Canada's aviation and nuclear industries. During World War II, he worked on advanced aeronautical projects. Later, he contributed to the development of the ZEEP (Zero Energy Experimental Pile) nuclear reactor, Canada's first nuclear reactor.
