Kamar Gap
The Kamar Gap, also referred to as the Kamar Ghat, is a high mountain pass located in the Himalayas, specifically within the Himachal Pradesh region of India. It connects the Kullu Valley with the Spiti Valley. The pass is known for its challenging terrain and high altitude, typically exceeding 4,000 meters (13,000 feet) above sea level. The Kamar Gap is generally only accessible during the summer months when snow accumulation is at its lowest. The pass is traversed by shepherds and locals, and increasingly, by adventure tourists and trekkers seeking remote and challenging routes. Its significance lies in providing a vital, albeit difficult, link between the geographically distinct regions of Kullu and Spiti.
