Generation Ex (album)

Generation X is the debut studio album by the British punk rock band Generation X. It was released in 1978 on Chrysalis Records.

The album was produced by Steve New, who was also the guitarist for the band Rich Kids. Generation X features a melodic punk sound with pop sensibilities, distinguishing it from the harder-edged sound of many contemporary punk bands.

Notable tracks on the album include "Ready Steady Go," "Kiss Me Deadly," and "Wild Youth." "Ready Steady Go" was released as a single and became a UK Top 40 hit.

Generation X was a commercial success, reaching number 29 on the UK Albums Chart. It is considered a significant album in the history of punk rock, showcasing a more accessible and commercially viable side of the genre. The album established Generation X as a prominent band in the late 1970s punk scene and helped launch the career of frontman Billy Idol.
