Funny Man (film)
Funny Man is a 1994 British horror comedy film directed by Simon Sprackling. The film stars Tim James, Matthew Devitt, and Benny Young, and is perhaps best known for its titular antagonist, a demonic clown serial killer played by James Callis.
The plot revolves around Max Taylor (James) winning a mansion in a poker game. Upon arriving at the isolated estate with his family, they are terrorized and brutally murdered by the Funny Man (Callis), a flamboyant and sadistic entity who seems to relish in elaborate and darkly humorous killings. A group of local villagers also find themselves targeted by the Funny Man's twisted games.
The film is characterized by its over-the-top gore, dark humor, and surreal atmosphere. It blends elements of slasher films, supernatural horror, and black comedy. While not a critical success upon release, Funny Man has gained a cult following for its outlandish violence, memorable villain, and distinct visual style. The film is noted for its low-budget production values and its reliance on practical effects for its many gruesome scenes.
