George Collins (Australian politician)

George Collins (born 21 November 1920, died 28 December 2001) was an Australian politician who served as a Labor member of the Australian House of Representatives for the Division of Grayndler from 1969 to 1977.

Collins was born in Lismore, New South Wales. Prior to entering Parliament, he worked as a bootmaker and was active in trade union affairs. He served as an alderman on Marrickville Municipal Council from 1959 to 1969, including a term as mayor.

In the 1969 federal election, Collins successfully contested the seat of Grayndler, previously held by Fred Daly. He served four terms in Parliament, representing the Labor Party. He was a member of various parliamentary committees during his tenure.

Collins retired from Parliament prior to the 1977 federal election. He died in 2001 at the age of 81. His contributions to the Australian Labor Party and his representation of the Grayndler electorate are remembered.
