Ögii Lake
Ögii Lake (also spelled Ugii Lake) is a freshwater lake located in central Mongolia, in the Arkhangai Province. The lake is situated within a protected wetland area and is a Ramsar Convention site, recognized for its significant importance as waterfowl habitat.
The lake covers an area of approximately 25 square kilometers (9.7 square miles) and is relatively shallow, with an average depth of about 6 meters (20 feet). The lake's shoreline is characterized by marshes and reedbeds, providing ideal breeding and nesting grounds for numerous bird species.
Ögii Lake is an important stopover point for migratory birds traveling between Siberia and Southeast Asia. It supports a diverse array of birdlife, including swans, geese, ducks, cranes, and various shorebirds. The lake also supports a variety of fish species, contributing to the local ecosystem and providing a source of sustenance for local communities.
