Dimi (rabbi)
Dimi was a third-generation Amora sage who lived in the Land of Israel during the 4th century CE. He is primarily known for his halakhic (Jewish law) and aggadic (narrative) statements recorded in the Babylonian Talmud, particularly in the tractates of Yevamot, Kiddushin, and Bava Batra. Dimi is recognized for bringing legal traditions and interpretations from the Land of Israel to Babylonia, contributing to the development of Jewish law in Babylonia. He is often cited in conjunction with other Amoraim who transmitted teachings between the two centers of Jewish learning. Although biographical details about Dimi are scarce, his contributions to the Talmud are considered significant in understanding the development and transmission of rabbinic thought.
