French ship Duc de Bourgogne (1751)
The Duc de Bourgogne was a 74-gun ship of the line of the French Royal Navy, built in Brest under the design of François Coulomb. She was launched in 1751 and served during the Seven Years' War.
The ship participated in several naval engagements. One notable action was the Battle of Lagos in 1759, during which she was part of the French fleet under the command of Admiral de la Clue-Sabran that was attempting to join the French fleet at Brest. The Duc de Bourgogne was captured by the British fleet, commanded by Admiral Edward Boscawen.
After her capture, she was taken into British service as HMS Burgogne. She was later renamed HMS Kent in 1761. HMS Kent served with the Royal Navy until 1772 when she was sold out of the service.
