Forever (Alekseev song)
"Forever" is a song performed by Ukrainian singer Alekseev. It represented Belarus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, held in Lisbon, Portugal.
The song is a pop ballad written by Kirill Pavlov, Evgeny Matyushenko and Svetlana Terekhova. It was originally released in Russian under the title "Навсегда" (Navsegda), but was later reworked and performed in English for Eurovision.
Alekseev won the Belarusian national selection for Eurovision with "Forever." However, the song sparked controversy due to the potential violation of the competition rules regarding demo releases before the permitted timeframe. "Forever" incorporated elements of "Navsegda," which had been released earlier. Despite the controversy, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) deemed the song eligible for the competition.
In Lisbon, "Forever" failed to qualify for the grand final. It performed in the first semi-final and finished in sixteenth place with 65 points. The song features themes of longing and enduring love.
