Expressway S11 (Poland)

The Expressway S11 (Polish: Droga ekspresowa S11) is a major road in Poland, connecting the north and south of the country. It runs in a north-south direction, from Kołobrzeg on the Baltic Sea coast to Pyrzowice Airport near Katowice in the south. As an expressway, it is designed for high-speed traffic and features grade-separated intersections, multiple lanes in each direction (typically two or three), and emergency lanes.

The S11 is an important transport corridor, facilitating the movement of goods and people between the seaports of the north and the industrial regions of southern Poland. It also serves as a crucial link for international traffic, connecting to other major road networks within Poland and neighboring countries.

Construction of the S11 is ongoing, with different sections completed at various times. Significant portions of the route are already open to traffic, but further extensions and upgrades are planned to complete the entire expressway and improve its capacity and safety. The finished road will greatly reduce travel times and enhance connectivity within Poland. The route is managed by the General Directorate for National Roads and Highways (GDDKiA).
