Borgia (horse)
Borgia was a British Thoroughbred racehorse, foaled in 1978. Bred and owned by Lady Beaverbrook, she was trained by Robert Armstrong. Borgia achieved notable success on the racecourse, primarily as a stayer. Her most significant victory came in the 1981 St. Leger Stakes at Doncaster, a prestigious Group 1 race open to three-year-old colts and fillies. In winning the St. Leger, Borgia defeated a field of colts and established herself as a top-class filly of her generation. She also ran in other major races, although without securing further Group 1 victories. After her racing career, Borgia became a broodmare, although details of her success in that role are less widely documented.
