Thomas Fane (died 1692)

Thomas Fane (died 1692) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1660 and 1692. He was a descendant of Sir Thomas Fane of Badsell, Kent, and a member of a prominent Kentish family.

Fane was elected Member of Parliament for Hythe in 1660 for the Convention Parliament. He served as MP for Dover from 1679 to 1681, and again from 1689 until his death in 1692. His political alignment is generally considered Tory.

Little is definitively known about his political activities beyond his presence in Parliament. The Fane family held considerable influence in Kent, which likely played a role in his election successes. He died in 1692 while still serving as MP for Dover, necessitating a by-election to fill the seat.
