Emily Skinner (born June 30, 1970) is an American actress and singer, primarily known for her work in musical theatre. Skinner has garnered critical acclaim for her powerful vocals, comedic timing, and versatile stage presence.
Early Life and Education:
Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Skinner developed an interest in performing arts at a young age. She attended Carnegie Mellon University, graduating with a degree in Drama.
Career:
Skinner made her Broadway debut in 1995 in Jekyll & Hyde. Her subsequent Broadway credits include The Full Monty, James Joyce's The Dead, Side Show, Dinner at Eight, Billy Elliot the Musical, Bonnie & Clyde, The Cher Show, and New York, New York. She is recognized for her ability to excel in a wide range of roles, from comedic characters to dramatic leads. Skinner has also appeared in numerous off-Broadway productions, regional theatre productions, and concerts.
She has received Drama Desk Award nominations for her performances in Side Show and Dinner at Eight. She won an Obie Award for her performance in Southern Comfort.
