Ellis Hall (Hendrix College)

Ellis Hall is a historic academic building located on the campus of Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. Constructed in 1914, it is one of the oldest buildings on campus and is a prominent example of Collegiate Gothic architecture.

Originally built to house the college's science departments, Ellis Hall now primarily houses humanities departments, including English and Philosophy. Over the years, the building has undergone renovations and upgrades to accommodate evolving academic needs while maintaining its historical architectural character.

The building is named in honor of Bishop Hay Watson Ellis, a prominent figure in the Methodist Church who served as President of Hendrix College from 1892 to 1902. His leadership was instrumental in the college's growth and development during a critical period.

Ellis Hall is a contributing property to the Hendrix College Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It remains a significant landmark and a vital part of the academic life at Hendrix College.
