188th (Saskatchewan) Battalion, CEF
The 188th (Saskatchewan) Battalion, CEF was an infantry battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) during the First World War. Authorized on 15 July 1916 and mobilized at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the battalion recruited primarily in the northern and western parts of the province.
The 188th Battalion embarked for Great Britain on 22 November 1916 aboard the Olympic. Upon arrival, the battalion was initially stationed at Camp Bramshott. On 14 December 1916, its personnel were absorbed into the 19th Reserve Battalion, CEF, to provide reinforcements for other units already in the field. The battalion was officially disbanded on 17 July 1917.
The 188th (Saskatchewan) Battalion, CEF, had one Officer Commanding: Lieutenant-Colonel A.G. Styles.
The perpetuation of the 188th Battalion was assigned to The North Saskatchewan Regiment.
