Espanto I

Espanto I was the name of a series of Spanish submarines built in the early 20th century. The lead boat, Espanto, was the first submarine built in Spain. The submarines were designed by the French engineer Maxime Laubeuf and were essentially improved versions of the French Narval class. The class consisted of three submarines: Espanto, Isaac Peral, and Narciso Monturiol. They were built in Cartagena and served in the Spanish Navy. They were considered advanced for their time, incorporating a double hull and diesel-electric propulsion. Despite their innovative design, they were relatively short-lived and were eventually superseded by newer submarines. Information regarding their operational history and combat records is limited.
