Ed Flanagan (American football)

Ed Flanagan (born February 15, 1945, died December 2, 2014) was an American football center and guard who played in the National Football League (NFL) for twelve seasons.

Flanagan played college football at Purdue University, where he was a consensus All-American in 1965 and was part of the 1967 Rose Bowl-winning team. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the third round of the 1967 NFL Draft.

Flanagan played for the Lions from 1967 to 1973. He was then traded to the San Diego Chargers, where he played from 1974 to 1976. He finished his career with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1978.

Flanagan was known for his durability and toughness. He played in 159 games during his NFL career.
