Dolly Jones (trumpeter)

Dolly Jones (born c. 1902, died 1975) was an American jazz trumpeter and vocalist, primarily known for her work in the early blues and jazz scene of the 1920s and 1930s. She was a pioneering female instrumentalist in a male-dominated field.

Jones gained recognition playing in various territory bands and with notable musicians of the era. She was a skilled improviser with a distinctive, often blues-inflected, playing style. While documentation of her career is limited, she is believed to have performed extensively in the Midwest and South. She is also recognized for her vocals on some recordings.
