Route 40 (Iceland)

Route 40 is a numbered road in Iceland, primarily serving as a loop road connecting the town of Grindavík to Route 41, the main road to Keflavík International Airport and Reykjavík. It forms part of the Reykjanesbraut region and is a relatively short but crucial connector for local traffic and tourism in the Reykjanes Peninsula. The road traverses the lava fields and geothermal areas characteristic of the region, offering scenic views, although these are often stark and volcanic. While not a major highway, Route 40 is important for accessing the Blue Lagoon and other attractions in the Grindavík area, as well as connecting Grindavík to other parts of the peninsula.
