Ernesto Herrera (politician)
Ernesto Herrera (September 11, 1942 – October 29, 1996) was a prominent Filipino labor leader, lawyer, and senator. He dedicated his life to advocating for workers' rights and improving labor conditions in the Philippines.
Herrera rose to prominence as the Secretary-General and later President of the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP), the largest labor federation in the country. In this role, he spearheaded numerous campaigns for wage increases, better working conditions, and improved labor laws. He was known for his negotiation skills and his ability to bridge the gap between labor and management.
He was elected to the Senate of the Philippines in 1987 and served until 1992.
