Dave Trott (politician)

Dave Trott (born October 16, 1960) is an American attorney and Republican politician from Michigan. He served as the U.S. Representative for Michigan's 11th congressional district from 2015 to 2019, having defeated incumbent Kerry Bentivolio in the 2014 Republican primary and subsequently winning the general election.

Before entering politics, Trott was a businessman and partner in the law firm Trott & Trott, P.C., which specialized in foreclosure law. His legal career and business dealings were subjects of scrutiny during his time in Congress.

During his time in the House of Representatives, Trott served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the House Judiciary Committee, and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. He was known for his fiscally conservative voting record and supported legislation related to tax cuts and deregulation.

In 2017, Trott announced that he would not seek reelection in 2018, citing a desire to spend more time with his family. Since leaving Congress, he has remained active in business and philanthropic endeavors.
