John Moir (settler)
John Moir (1826-1899) was a Scottish settler in colonial Natal (now KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa). Born in Scotland, he emigrated to Natal in the mid-19th century and established himself as a prominent farmer and businessman in the district of Umvoti. Moir was involved in the cultivation of sugarcane and other crops, contributing to the agricultural development of the region. He also participated in local government and community affairs, serving on various boards and committees. His descendants remained active in Natal's farming and business sectors for generations. He is notable for his role in the early development of the agricultural economy of Natal.
