405 (film)
405 is a 2000 American short science fiction thriller film written and directed by Bruce Branit. The film, notable for being produced by only two people and featuring then groundbreaking visual effects created on off-the-shelf Macintosh computers, is approximately five minutes in length and features no dialogue.
The plot centers on a lone maintenance worker at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) who is tasked with stopping a Boeing 747 that has come alive and is attempting to take off on its own. The film derives its title from the 405 Freeway, which runs alongside LAX.
405 gained widespread popularity after being released online and circulated virally. It is considered a significant early example of independent filmmaking utilizing readily available technology to achieve high-quality visual effects and distribution through the internet. The success of 405 helped to launch Branit's career in visual effects and directing.
