Amixtlán

Amixtlán is a municipality located in the Sierra Norte region of the state of Puebla, Mexico. It is part of the Teziutlán district.

Amixtlán is primarily an agricultural community. The economy is largely based on the cultivation of coffee, corn, beans, and various fruits. The area is known for its mountainous terrain and lush vegetation.

The indigenous population of Amixtlán mainly consists of Nahua people. The Nahuatl language is still spoken by a significant portion of the population, alongside Spanish.

Amixtlán experiences a subtropical climate with distinct wet and dry seasons. The region's weather patterns are heavily influenced by its altitude and proximity to the Gulf of Mexico.

Historical records suggest that Amixtlán has pre-Hispanic origins, with evidence of early settlements predating the arrival of the Spanish. During the colonial period, it was part of the encomienda system.
