Kadnikov

Kadnikov is a town in the Sokolsky District of Vologda Oblast, Russia. It is situated on the left bank of the Sogozha River, approximately 48 kilometers (30 miles) southwest of Sokol, the administrative center of the district. Kadnikov serves as the administrative center of Kadnikov Urban Settlement, which is one of the ten urban settlements of Sokolsky District.

History: Kadnikov was first mentioned in historical records in 1492 as a village. It gained town status in 1780 by decree of Catherine the Great, becoming the center of Kadnikov Uyezd within Vologda Governorate. The town served primarily as an agricultural and trading center for the surrounding rural areas. In 1924, Kadnikov Uyezd was abolished, and Kadnikov became part of Sokolsky Uyezd. It lost its town status in 1938, becoming a rural locality. Kadnikov regained town status in 2004.
