Ilida (municipality)

Ilida (Greek: Ήλιδα, pronounced [ˈilida]) is a municipality in the Elis regional unit, Peloponnese, Greece. Its seat is the town of Amaliada. The municipality was formed in 2011 by the merger of the former municipalities of Amaliada, Pinia, and Vartholomio, which became municipal units.

The name "Ilida" refers to the ancient city-state of Elis, which controlled the sanctuary of Olympia and the Olympic Games. The modern municipality does not precisely coincide with the territory of ancient Elis, but encompasses a significant portion of it.

The economy of Ilida is largely based on agriculture, with olives, fruits, and vegetables being important crops. Tourism also plays a role, particularly due to the proximity to Olympia.

The municipality has a diverse landscape, ranging from fertile plains to coastal areas along the Ionian Sea. It also contains several smaller settlements and villages in addition to the main towns. The current mayor is [Insert current mayor's name here - research required].
