Nadi Rural (Indian Communal Constituency, Fiji)
The Nadi Rural Indian Communal Constituency was a former electoral division of Fiji. It was one of 19 communal constituencies reserved for Indo-Fijians (Fijians of Indian descent) and was established by the 1963 Constitution. Voters registered in this constituency were able to vote only for candidates of Indian descent. The constituency was located in the western part of Viti Levu, Fiji's largest island, encompassing the rural areas surrounding the town of Nadi.
The constituency was abolished under the 1997 Constitution, which introduced a new electoral system consisting of open and communal constituencies. The area formerly covered by the Nadi Rural Indian Communal Constituency was then largely incorporated into the Nadi Open Constituency and portions of other neighboring constituencies. The last election held for this constituency was in 1994.
