Bill Peet

William Bartlett "Bill" Peet (January 29, 1915 – May 11, 2002) was an American children's author, illustrator, and screenwriter. He is best known for his work with Walt Disney Animation Studios, where he served as a story artist and writer on classic films such as Pinocchio, Dumbo, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, and The Sword in the Stone.

Peet left Disney in 1964 to focus on writing and illustrating his own children's books. His books are known for their distinctive art style, imaginative stories, and messages about self-acceptance, environmentalism, and the importance of individuality.

Some of his most notable books include Hubert's Hair-Raising Adventure, Jennifer and Josephine, The Wump World, Kermit the Hermit, Chester the Worldly Pig, Ella, Big Bad Bruce, and his autobiography, Bill Peet: An Autobiography.

Peet's work has had a lasting impact on children's literature and animation, and he is remembered as a talented storyteller and artist. He received numerous awards for his books, including the Caldecott Honor for Ella in 1965.
