Derkacze

Derkacze is a Polish plural noun referring to corncrakes ( Crex crex). A corncrake is a small, secretive, ground-dwelling bird in the rail family, Rallidae. These birds are known for their distinctive, rasping call, often described as sounding like a comb being scraped. They are migratory birds, breeding across Europe and Asia and wintering in Africa. Corncrake populations have declined significantly in many parts of their range due to habitat loss and changes in agricultural practices.
