Elisabeth Murdoch (businesswoman)
Elisabeth Murdoch (born August 22, 1968) is a British-born businesswoman and media executive. She is the daughter of media mogul Rupert Murdoch and his former wife Anna Maria Torv.
Murdoch's career began in the Murdoch family's News Corporation. She held various positions within the company before establishing her own independent production company, Shine Limited, in 2001. Shine quickly became a successful television production business, responsible for creating and distributing popular programs such as "MasterChef," "The Biggest Loser," and "Spooks" (known as "MI-5" in some territories).
In 2011, Shine Group was acquired by News Corporation in a deal valuing the company at approximately £415 million. Murdoch subsequently joined News Corporation's board of directors. Following the split of News Corporation in 2013, she served on the board of 21st Century Fox.
In 2016, Murdoch founded Sister, a global content company focused on developing, producing, and investing in television, film, and digital entertainment. Sister has been involved in the production of critically acclaimed and commercially successful projects, including "Chernobyl," "Giri/Haji," and "Landscapers."
Murdoch has received recognition for her business acumen and contributions to the media industry. She has been named one of the most powerful women in media by various publications. She is known for her entrepreneurial spirit and her commitment to supporting creative talent.
