Department of Natural Resources (Manitoba)
The Department of Natural Resources (Manitoba), formerly known by names such as Manitoba Conservation, is the department of the Manitoba government responsible for the sustainable development, management, and conservation of the province's natural resources. This encompasses a wide range of activities, including wildlife management, forestry, water resources management, fisheries, parks and protected areas, and environmental licensing and enforcement. The Department's mandate also includes promoting responsible resource use, preventing and mitigating environmental damage, and providing opportunities for outdoor recreation. Its activities are governed by various provincial laws and regulations related to resource management and environmental protection. The Minister responsible for the Department is appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba.
