Debbie Smith (Nevada politician)
Debbie Smith (1956 – 2016) was an American politician who served as a Democratic member of the Nevada Senate, representing District 9, which included portions of Clark County. Prior to her service in the Senate, she served in the Nevada Assembly from 2004 to 2012, representing District 29.
Smith was known for her advocacy on issues related to education, healthcare, and veterans affairs. She championed legislation aimed at improving Nevada's public schools and increasing access to affordable healthcare. She also worked to provide resources and support for veterans and their families.
Throughout her career, Smith served on numerous committees, including the Senate Education Committee and the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. She was respected by colleagues on both sides of the aisle for her dedication to public service and her ability to find common ground.
