End of the World (album)

End of the World is the debut studio album by the American rock band Hum, released in 1990 by 12 Inch Records. It is significantly different in style from their later, more well-known albums, featuring a faster tempo and a more hardcore punk and alternative rock influenced sound. The production quality is noticeably lower than their subsequent work, reflecting the band's early stages. The album received limited critical attention upon its release and is generally less regarded than their later albums like You'd Prefer an Astronaut and Downward Is Heavenward. It remains, however, an important document of the band's formative period and showcases the beginnings of the sonic elements that would later define their signature sound. The album is currently out of print, making it a sought-after item for collectors.
