David Walton (economist)
David Walton is an economist known for his work on global macroeconomics, fiscal policy, and exchange rate economics. He has held senior positions in both the public and private sectors.
Walton’s career includes serving as a member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of England from 2005 to 2008. During his tenure on the MPC, he participated in setting the UK's interest rates and monetary policy to meet the government's inflation target. He was often described as a relatively hawkish member of the committee, favoring tighter monetary policy to control inflation.
