Linkous

Linkous is the surname of Mark Linkous (1962-2010), an American singer, songwriter, and musician. He was best known as the frontman of the indie rock band Sparklehorse. Sparklehorse, formed in 1995, was noted for its lo-fi aesthetic, melancholic melodies, and unconventional instrumentation. The band's sound often incorporated elements of noise, distortion, and found sounds, creating a distinctive and often emotionally resonant atmosphere.

Mark Linkous was the primary songwriter and creative force behind Sparklehorse, and his personal struggles and experiences frequently informed the band's music. He battled depression and substance abuse throughout his life, and these themes were often reflected in his lyrics and overall artistic vision.

Sparklehorse released four studio albums during its existence: Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot (1995), Good Morning Spider (1998), It's a Wonderful Life (2001), and Dreamt for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain (2006). The band's music has been influential in the indie rock scene and continues to be appreciated for its unique and introspective qualities. Following Mark Linkous's death in 2010, Sparklehorse disbanded.
