Scherk

Scherk can refer to several things, most notably in mathematics and fictional works.

Mathematics:

  • Scherk Surface: A minimal surface described by Heinrich Scherk in 1834. It is a doubly periodic surface embedded in three-dimensional space. There are two known complete embedded minimal surfaces in 3-dimensional space with two ends: the catenoid and Scherk's minimal surface. These surfaces can be defined by implicit equations.

  • Scherk Tower: One form of the Scherk surface, visually resembling a tower formed by alternating saddle shapes stacked on top of each other.

Fictional References:

  • Scherk (Berserk): A character in the manga series Berserk by Kentaro Miura. She is a young witch and a member of Guts's party. She uses astral projection and other forms of magic. She is crucial to the plot as she helps Guts control the Berserker armor. Her master was the witch Flora.
