Ed Leip

Ed Leip is a retired professional baseball umpire who worked in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1979 to 2009. He wore uniform number 26. Leip's career included officiating over 4,000 regular-season games, as well as numerous playoff and World Series assignments.

Leip began his umpiring career in the minor leagues before being promoted to the American League staff in 1979. Over his three decades in the majors, he earned a reputation as a respected and reliable umpire.

Notable assignments for Leip included working the 1994 American League Championship Series, the 1997 World Series, the 2002 World Series, and the 2007 World Series. He also umpired in multiple All-Star Games.

Following his retirement after the 2009 season, Leip has remained involved in baseball, occasionally serving as an instructor or consultant.
