Thomas Davies (1792-1839) was a British physician known for his work on diseases of the lungs and heart. He was born in London and educated at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, qualifying as a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1813 and obtaining his MD from the University of St Andrews in 1819.

Davies practiced medicine in London, holding appointments at the Northern Dispensary and the Finsbury Dispensary. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 1830.

His major contributions to medicine were in the area of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. He is particularly remembered for his detailed clinical descriptions and his emphasis on careful physical examination. Davies authored several influential publications, including "Lectures on the Diseases of the Lungs and Heart" (1835), a work that became a standard text for medical students and practitioners. In this work, Davies emphasized the importance of auscultation and percussion in the diagnosis of chest diseases, building upon the work of René Laennec, the inventor of the stethoscope. He provided clear and practical guidance on the interpretation of lung sounds and their correlation with specific pathological conditions.

Davies's lectures and writings played a significant role in advancing the understanding and treatment of pulmonary and cardiac disorders during the early 19th century. His work is still cited today for its insightful clinical observations and its contribution to the development of modern diagnostic techniques. He died prematurely at the age of 47.
