It is situated on the eastern side of the park, approximately 10 miles (16 km) south of the town of Sequim. Martin Peak rises to an elevation of approximately 6,250 feet (1,905 meters).
The peak is part of the Gray Wolf Ridge, a prominent subrange within the Olympics. It is known for its rugged, glaciated terrain and offers views of surrounding peaks such as Mount Deception and Mount Townsend, as well as the Dungeness River watershed.
Climbing Martin Peak typically involves off-trail hiking and scrambling, requiring experienced mountaineering skills. The approach often involves navigating dense forests and steep, rocky slopes. The peak's relative isolation and challenging access make it a less frequently visited destination within the park compared to more accessible summits.
The name "Martin Peak" is believed to be associated with a local individual or historical figure, though specific details regarding the origin of the name are not widely documented.
