Wolfville

Wolfville is a town located in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, Canada. It is situated on the Cornwallis River, close to the Minas Basin, a sub-basin of the Bay of Fundy. Wolfville is perhaps best known as the home of Acadia University, a primarily undergraduate university founded in 1838.

The town's economy is diverse, with agriculture (particularly fruit growing and viticulture), education, tourism, and the service sector all playing significant roles. The surrounding area is fertile farmland, contributing to a strong agricultural presence. The presence of Acadia University brings a significant student population and related economic activity to the town.

Wolfville has a rich history, originally inhabited by the Mi'kmaq people. European settlement began in the 17th century with Acadian farmers, who cultivated the fertile lands. Following the Expulsion of the Acadians in 1755, the land was granted to New England Planters. The town was originally known as Mud Creek before being renamed Wolfville in the early 19th century, supposedly after a prominent local family named Wolfe.

The town is a popular tourist destination, particularly during the fall apple blossom season and the harvest season. Wineries in the area are also a significant draw for visitors. Wolfville is known for its picturesque streets, historic architecture, and vibrant cultural scene. It boasts several art galleries, theaters, and restaurants.
