Bni Rzine

Bni Rzine (also spelled Beni Rzine or Ait Rzine) is a Berber tribe located in the Rif region of northern Morocco. They are primarily situated in the province of Taza, forming part of the larger Berber tribal confederation of the Ghiata (also spelled Ghayața). Historically, the Bni Rzine were known for their independent spirit and resistance to central authority. Their economy is primarily based on agriculture, livestock raising, and trade. The tribe speaks a dialect of Tarifit (also known as Rifi), a Northern Berber language. The Bni Rzine, like other Rifian tribes, have a rich cultural heritage that includes traditional music, dance, and craftsmanship. Their history is intertwined with the broader history of the Rif region, marked by periods of both autonomy and conflict with various ruling powers in Morocco.
